Visit to St. Catherine's

Here are Chris, Tom, Lisa and Brock. Enjoying the beautiful fall weather.

Chris and Jack play with Ridley Academy school mascot.

Thanksgiving dinner iwth (L to R) Grandma Nan, Kim, Tom, Chris, Jack and Karen.

Jack has been busy as a bee and as always makes us laugh constantly. He is saying many more words including Cheers! Bubby (Cubby), Choo-choo, juice, and of course MOMMY!!!!!!
He is now able to point to letters that I ask him to identify and apparently can count to 5 (according to Ginette but as of yet I have not heard this one).
We like to make races on our walks which involves stopping at all cracks in the road and counting "one, two, three, go!".
He is more and more becoming an artist and loving drawing and trying to write, he even holds the crayon correctly. He loves to do puzzles and he loves watching Poplular Mechanics for Kids, Fraggle Rock, and any animal show. He does the bear and birds sounds well.
Grandma Nan is coming tonight on the Choo-shoo and jack was excited but pointed to himself and wanted to go on the train too. Not sure that will happen, especially since he wants the dog to go as well.
Well that,s all for updates and documentation (more for us that anyone else).

2 Years old

Wow,

Jack is now 2 years old. We had a week of birthday parties inlcuding one at the cottage and one at home for his day care freinds and some other friends. Mama made a fire truck cake and we all ate pizza. Jack seemd to have a blast and loved when everyone sang Happy Birthday to him.

We were at the Pediatrician and are happy to report Jack is 34" and almost 24 lbs. He is no longer a baby I guess. the words are starting to come slowly but the potty training is chugging along. Spurned on by reports from Day care that he was peeing in the potty we have been asking him to do it all week and Jack has been delivering. He is brilliant. He gets so excited that he clapps his hand. We have been rewarding him with 3 chocolate chips. We think this level of acheivement is probably only second to him getting a Law degree!

Last weekend Chris took Jack to see the real Thomas the train that was in town. They both took a ride and got to have the whole Thomas experience!

Time flies

Well, time certainly does fly and neglect the blog. I like to keep it updated for us as well as fammily and friends. It is a nice reminder of what has been happening.

Greg Christina and 2 boys were here last weekend and that was a hoot. Watching Finn and Jack woop it up was hilarious. Of course they both went for the same toys and but mostly they played independently, they are still young to actually play together. They both went swimming in Grandma’s pool and had a great time. Jack was so brave he would wave me away so he could jump in himself. He also felt that he could jump off the diving board. I had to hold on to his shorts to stop him. Meanwhile Conor was swimming below yelling “I will catch him”. Conor is 6.

It has been raining a lot here but that does not stop the fun. We pick strawberries at grandmas (jack is a good foreman), we go to the park and make castles in the sand, and we walk around the neighbourhood and watch the backhoes as they repave the streets (gold I tell you!!). We also make trips to Mooney’s Bay. Cubby jumps in the water to Jack’s laughs and we watch the baby ducks and geese.

This weekend we went to our friend’s son’s Birthday party. Alex turned 2. They had a BBQ at the local park and the weather actually cooperated. It was nice to see all the kids but Jack was so tired he fell asleep on the way home and slept for 3 hours!!
Chris and I got to go to a mess dinner a few weeks ago. We got to dress up and had a great time.
And at long last our new kitchen is done. It has been a crazy spring but we did it and it is beautiful!
We are headed to the cottage this weekend to celebrate Canada day weekend.
Look for cottage pictures soon!

Life in the fast lane

Hi all,

We have been very busy here at Casa Lynam. Grandma Nancy was here to visit and unfortunately she was sick. We all had had colds but Nancy got the worst of it by far and was laid up for quite a while. We are all hope she is feeling better and recovering well. Before she got sick she did get to spend some time with Jack and played in the back yard with him.

We are still in the middle of our kitchen renovations and the projection of '2 weeks' lol has come and gone and we are still waiting for the completion of our beautiful new kitchen. Delays in counters and cabinet doors have forced everything to a halt. It is however 90% done and we wait anxiously for the moment when we can move back into our kitchen and have a working sink and dishwasher again!

Chris has been very bus with both the military and his day job. He has been traveling to Toronto and Kingston every second weekend with the military and this week he is gone to Iqualuit from Monday to Thursday. He called last night to say how different it all looked. We look forward to seeing pictures when he returns.

Jack has been a busy little bee and is acquiring new skills daily. He climbs the play structure like a champ and loves to go down the slide. He like Mama and Cubby to go up the structure too and then for us to go down the slide. Mama does...Cubby does not.

Jack gave Mama a beautiful birdhouse for mother’s day. He had been working on this project for days at daycare painting it and was just busting with pride when he gave it to me. It was so cute to see him so happy! Then we went to in town grandmas for mother’s day, we had hamburgers and corn and Jack was loving that corn, he cleaned every kernel of the piece off corn cob, and then a second piece and then had his hand on the third to ensure that no one took it.

Lately Jack does not like going out without his sun hat and will point to his head if he is missing it. He also says 'Uh-oh' 20 times and day. The other day Chris asked jack if he wanted to make scones and jack pushed his chair up to the counter. Then Chris asked where the mixer was and jack pointed to the garage (as that is where it is during renovations). Then Chris said "son moment Jack while I find the mixing bowl that fits the mixer and Jack reached down and picked it up from under the table. Chris commented that perhaps Jack could make the scones himself. Smart boy!

cruise report

We are back from our southern Carribean cruise.
It started out rough with a 6 hour plane delay in Philadelphia but alas we made it. Chris called the cruise ship and they actually held the ship for the 50 of us that were on the plane. We all jumped in a bus and made it to the 'Destiny' at 10:15 and we sailed. We were told we were the last people on the ship.

It was great to see Tom and Kim. Tom and Chris went scuba diving and Tom and Kim got to hike in the jungle. Karen got to relax and take a tour around St. Martins with Chris. For the first 5 days Jack was the bell of the ball and was even address by name by many of the staff. I guess he is memorable.
It certainly was an adventure and while is was stressful at times traveling with a toddler all in all it was fun. Jack loved the airport, the plane, the cruise ship and all the boats he saw.

He also enjoyed splashing in the ocean!

Another cold

Well it is winter here and we have had the colds to prove it. One after another colds and flus run through our house. We are told it is the cost of having a child in daycare. Poor Jack is having trouble sleeping as he has had a stuffed up nose for the past month I think. Chris has another cold and along with sleep deprevation is walking like a zombie. Karen is good today but also fighting a cold.

We are anxiously awaiting our cruise with Tom and Kim in March. We are counting the days until the warm weather, meals already cooked and no snow shovelling. We anticipate Jack being interested in all the activity on the ship and with the other kids of which I am sure there will be many as it is spring break. We will be sure to keep an eye on him as he is so busy these days.

Jack is running now and getting into everything. He pushes chairs around the kitchen so if you turn your back for a second you can find him emptying spices/water almost anything onto the counter or trying for knives and things. He has a good idea of what he wants (about everything) and will not hesitate to pull mom to the fridge or cupboard that holds what he wants.

This weekend we are going out with Mike and Becky to have some much needed adult time. Jack will be with Jen the babysitter. Saturday we are going to Tyson's Birthday party (one of Jack's daycare friends). Sunday we will go to my parents for dinner as they are leaving for Florda soon and have invited us over. We will not stay too long as it is Oscar weekend and essentially Karen's "superbowl".
