Fall days

Jack has become quite the little climber, he will summit anything in his way.

Last Saturday we all went for a walk in the woods. It was such a beautiful day!
Mama wanted to take a picture with Jack but Jack was not too interested!

Lazy Days of Fall

Well things have been fairly quiet for us. Chris went to help Grandma Nancy close her cottage this past weekend and they had good time and fairly good weather. Chris even went swimming! Sometimes it is very cold up in Georgian Bay for Thanksgiving and it can even snow! Now it is all closed up and Grandma Nancy is back in St. Catherine’s...for now. Tom and Kim were there too and I hear they are doing well.

Monday we had Thanksgiving dinner with the O'Reillys. It was a small crowd of us, G&G and Caitlin and her beau Jarret. The pumpkin pie was a big hit with Jack. He then proceeded to put on an evening floor show for all with cutesy smiles and teasing everyone with balls of yarn (don't ask).

Jack is growing like a week and according to the pediatrician he is 20lbs and 9 oz and 31" tall. That puts him tall and thin for his age. He is doing well on all fronts and even has a new molar. Mama was a little cagey because Jack had to get his MMR and Meningitis vaccine and with all the talk of them causing Autism, Mama was in a spin the night before. Alas, the MD reassured me that there was no proven link and in fact the link between the vaccines and Autism has been dis-proven. The fact that the vaccines in Canada have no mercury put me at ease (except for the flu shot so stay away my friends. Better to have the flu than mercury on the brain. That is just my opinion. )

Other than that Dada and Mama have been battling a nasty flu bug for the past week. It is luck we have Grandma and Grandpa O'Reilly in town to help out!

Ooh the teeth!

Well Jack is settling into Daycare and Mom is settling into work but Jack is teething terribly. His back molars and possibly his eye teeth are all coming in and have made Jack miserable this week. He is biting on everything and the pain must be bad as he is having a hard time sleeping at night. Hopefully it will all be worth it when he can chew on a piece of steak!

New Toy

Grandma Nancy gave Jack some money to get a toy for his birthday. We got him a toy garage which he loves. He could not wait to get the box open!

Jack goes to child care and Mama goes to work.

Monday was Mama's first day back at work so everyone had to get moving in the morning. Dada is still off until Labour Day so he drove us to work and Daycare.

Contrary to the photos Jack has been having a great week! He cried for 10 minutes on the first day and was so tired that night we had to fight to keep him up to 6:30. Today when we picked him up he was playing with the other children and having a great time. They went to the park and played soccer. Jack loves to chase the other boys around and is even taken to giving them kisses and hugs.

We are so relieved that Jack is enjoying his spot and seems to have bonded already with his day care worker.

We also moved Jack to a 'big boy' car seat and he loves facing forward. He kicks his feet and squeals whenever you look back at him.

First Birthday Party

Well it is 5 days early but we had a Birthday cake for Jack at G&G.
Jack and Finn started the party early.

Cottage days 2

Well we just returned from 15 days on beautiful Georgian Bay. Tom and Kim generously let us stay with them in their cabin. We had fabulous weather that included 15 days of sun! We all got tanned and much to our surprise... Jack actually tans (unlike his mother who burns) he must get those genes from dad.
We went fishing and toured around in the boat.
We ate on Tom and Kim's new deck every day and lounged in their new chairs and on the new dock. It was heaven. Jack loved watching the boats, the flora and fauna and anything else that caught his eye.
Grandma was there too and we enjoyed daily visits with her. Jack got to know Grandma well and like to walk around her cabin and give her hugs. Most days Jack had applesauce and cookie snacks in the afternoon.
Mom and Dad got to go to dinner at the Log Cabin restaurant one evening and G&T&K babysat, many thanks for that!

Oh M'God!

Jack got his 7th tooth. Yeah for him but the big news is he climbed up an entire flight of stairs by himself! Chris and Jack were alone and Jack wanted to climb so Chris thought he could climb a stair or 2 if he tried (he has never done that before) and he went all the way to the top unassisted. Wow... tomorrow Everest!!!

Good Irish Boy

Jack loves meat and potatoes, what a good Irish boy! We have no end of trouble trying to get him to eat and the other night we fed him the equivalent of Shepards Pie (ground beef, mashed potatoes and peas) and he could not eat it fast enough. He even fed it to mu-mum.
Jack is also enjoying his new trike. He looks like he is going to be a hoodlum and wack people on the head.

Cottage Days

We enjoyed 6 days at Grandma Nancy's cottage in Georgian Bay. It was a good chance for Jack to see Grandma and a chance for all of us to have a break and a rest. Jack did super well on the drive up there. It is 5 hours straight and then a 15 minute boat ride and Jack was a champ. He slept for 1 hour and then we stopped for a half hour break and then he slept for another hour in the second half. He played with the Fisher Price bus and we red to him. Jack loved the boats and wore his life jacket like a champ. He enjoyed the boat ride and would point out any boats that went by during the week.

Uncle Tom and Aunt Kim (and her family) were there as well as uncle Brock. We were glad we got to see them all and that Jack got to see them all. He made strange a bit but then charmed them with his business and laughing. He is learning to walk and furniture surf and took quite a few tumbles. We really got into the swing of things as Dad gave baby a bath in the cooler using the garden hose.

We look forward to going back up for 2 weeks on the 24th of July.

Jack takes his first steps!

Jack is officially on the move! Jack stood for 10 seconds and then took 4 steps. He repeated the whole thing a few times so we know it was for real.

We went to a his friend Alex's first birthday on Saturday. Alex had a new Dora the Explorer car and Jack loved it. Alex's mom Dana called just now to say they got 3 of them and would like to give one to Jack. Jack will love that!
Chris started his summer off and will be off until Labour Day. We look forward to spending time as a new family, including trips to the cottage and just hanging out in the backyard!

The second photo is a picture of what it is like trying to feed Jack.

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to Chris!
It was a hot weekend and Jack enjoyed it in his new baby pool courtesy of G&G. He also enjoyed swimming in the big pool at G&G's. Caitlin was having a pool party but that did not stop us from enjoying the water.
Chris and Karen also enjoyed a dinner out to the Keg courtesy of Caitlin who babysat. Thanks Caity!

Experimental Farm

Well it was a long hot weekend and we decided to visit the Experimental Farm. There was a sheep barn, a small animal barn including chikens, pigs, horses, a museum and as seen in the picture, a cow barn. Jack was overwhelmed by all the sights but afraid of the cows. A moment after this picture he burst into tears. It was a nice outing and the flowers in the ornamental garden were beautiful.

Today was another warm day we started out with an interview with a day care provider. It went well and the lady was very nice. Then we drove Chris to a meeting in Hull and then we went to G&G to visit. I got time to study for my course as Grandma took Jack for a walk. Then Grandma, Jack and I went swimming, Jack loved it and would not even hear of taking a break. he even tried to dunk his face in the water. A true water baby!

Jack the entertainer

Jack woke up this morning and when dad went in to see him he yelled 'Da-Dad' in his loudest voice with a big smile. Dad was really tickled by this. Jack is babbling a lot lately as apparently he has things to say. We are all anxious for the words to start coming so we can hear what is going on in his blond head.

While his cousin was here Conor had his slip and slide out, Jack was intrigued by it, walked right over and plopped himself down. We then took off his clothes and he splashed about with Finn in the water. It was quite a site of splashing and squealing.

Jack and Finn

Auntie Christina and Cousins' Conor and Finn are in town visiting. Their house in Toronto is under big renovations so they are staying with G & G for abourt 2 weeks. Jack and Finn have had some time to hang out and they are adorable together. They both want to play with the Fisher Price bus and are starting to try and touch each other. Finn is on the right.

Dada, Mama

Well the Lynams have been busy lately and Jack has been hitting many milestones (including saying 'Mama' and 'Dada') and keeping us busy along the way.

Jack has discovered Elmo as the picture indicates and smiles hugely when he sees him. He also has started to furniture surf as you can see. It is exciting to watch but more worry as he does not want to sit and stay put anymore. He also enjoys walking on fingers and insists on stepping on or kicking everything he passes including the floor grates, shoes, toys lawn tools etc.

Jack has had a bit of a cold so he was up quite a bit and started the day at 5 this morning. Chris and I were at a loss at starting a day off so early so we took an outing to the only place open...a 24hrs Denny's. We were the only ones there!

Greg, Christina, Conor and Finn are in town so we went to see them at G & G's last night for dinner. Jack was a little jealous as he usually gets G & G's attention and the toys but he soon got over it, made friends and had a conversation with Finn which sounded like "ahhhhh", and "AHHHHH" in reply.

And lastly, Jack has aquired a love of the park swings! Grandma loves to take him and watch him squeal.
